Among the first to benefit from Boleh’s ‘can-do experience’ after her lengthy restoration were Portsmouth area Service schoolchildren. Boleh day sails for Pompey’s Military Kids (PMK) are now regular events – this year no exception as the Priory School picture shows. Their day with Skipper Craig and volunteer Mate Meisje included helming, ropework, nature watch and working the sails – they loved it! So far this year, Springfield, St Swithun’s, and Highbury schools have also enjoyed a Boleh day.
‘Pompey’s Military Kids’ is a joint initiative by the Naval Families Federation and Portsmouth City Council to support Service children and is now run by the Naval charity Aggie Westons. The Group works with local schools to bring together and support Service schoolchildren within the wider community. The original PMK Brochure, featuring sailing onboard Boleh among the activities offered, can be accessed here. Thank you ‘Aggies’ and the RN&RM Charity for supporting Boleh’s involvement.
