Following a successful ‘taster’ sail in July, the Regiment’s ‘Always a Rifleman Programme’ (AARP) was back onboard Boleh earlier this month. Exercise BOLD WATER 2 saw young veterans, living with the impact of severe head wounds received while in Service, thrive in the fresh air under the care of Skipper Craig, Volunteer Mate Ant and AARP Mentor Ian. Over the 3 days the crew visited Port Solent, Cowes and all the Palmerston Forts in the Solent, with one memorable day when Boleh was ‘in the groove’ averaging 8-9 knots!
We are proud that BOLD WATER 2 has taken us another step forward in the Trust’s relationship with the Rifles, and now look forward to hosting 2 further AARP 3-day packages for their veterans in 2025. We are very grateful to the AARP Team for trusting us with this component of their vitally important programme, supporting those whose lives can often face crisis. The Trust’s thanks also go to our volunteers and to our generous funders who enable Boleh to deliver such programmes for all three Services.
